Bead Upon Golden Bead was a short 20 minutes piece created for the 2017 Inter University Drama Festival. It was made before Buried Thunder was an established company, but members of the company performed, devised and directed the piece.

The performance was a retelling of the myth of Icarus (the boy who flew too close to the sun) with a particular focus on his father, the inventor, Daedalus. Told entirely through movement (with the exception of a poem at the beginning and end), it experimented with physical storytelling and ensemble work. Footage of the piece is archived, but it holds a special place in our hearts as it lead directly to the R&D of our next and first professional production, Our Shore - which you can watch below.
