Welcome to the Buried Thunder Tech Drive, where you can donate your #BuriedTech to us - helping us improve our outreach workshops AND the wellbeing of the planet.
WHAT IS IT?
The Tech Drive is a project that seeks to recycle unwanted technology such as smartphones, tablets and laptops or utilise them to deliver our outreach programmes.
WHY ARE WE DOING IT?
One of our workshops, Essence, is designed for young people to develop their creative practice outside of the classroom, creating a piece of digital physical theatre that is theirs to keep. 700,000 people lack access to digital devices in the UK, that includes more than 300,000 young people. To ensure this workshop is accessible for all, we need to be able to offer devices that allow young people to create high quality material and gain experience within videography.
The Tech Drive also is part of a wider initiative to become more sustainable as a company. Electric goods are the fastest growing source of waste in the UK and we hope to be part of the movement of reducing this waste, by encourage you to dig out your #BuriedTech and get them recycled. 527 million unwanted devices reside in UK households and by passing on your devices, you could help the planet, us, and our young people’s future.
Please consider donating, even if you think your device is too old! We will use the best ones for our workshops, and recycle the others - selling them on to established recycling companies. The income generated will be used to create theatre that meets our ethos: to move through movement, ignite imagination and unearth buried stories.
